Dean Evason has been appointed as the coach for the Columbus Blue Jackets, taking the last open coaching position in the NHL.
At 59 years old, Evason will be the third person to hold the coaching position for the Blue Jackets in three years. He has signed a multiyear contract.
General manager Don Waddell removed Pascal Vincent from the team after assuming control of the hockey operations department. Waddell commended Evason for his vast experience garnered as a player, assistant coach, and head coach.
Prior to joining the Blue Jackets, Evason led the Minnesota Wild for five seasons before John Hynes took over. He looks forward to working with Columbus' young talent and aspires to build a competitive team.
