Detroit Red Wings forward Lucas Raymond agreed to an eight-year contract worth $64.6 million on Monday. This deal includes an average annual value of $8.075 million.
At 22 years old, Raymond was the fourth overall pick in the 2020 NHL Draft and has quickly become one of the standout players for the Red Wings.
During the 2023-24 season, Raymond led Detroit with 72 points, including 31 goals and 41 assists, hitting career highs in all these areas. He also participated in all 82 games, achieving career bests in blocked shots, hits, takeaways, and plus-minus.
Throughout his 238-game tenure with Detroit, Raymond has accumulated 174 points, with 71 goals and 103 assists.
Raymond, along with young teammates like defenseman Moritz Seider, is focused on ending the Red Wings' eight-year playoff absence. The team concluded the 2023-24 season with a 41-32-9 record, totaling 91 points, but narrowly missed the playoffs due to a tiebreaker with the Washington Capitals.
