Jack Hughes played a crucial role in the New Jersey Devils' 5-3 win against the Montreal Canadiens by contributing a goal and two assists. This outcome extended the Canadiens' series of games without a win to five.
The Devils also saw goals from Jesper Bratt, who had two goals and an assist, Ondrej Palat, and Jonas Siegenthaler, managing to take a 2-0 lead in the first period.
For Montreal, Alex Newhook scored twice, and Brendan Gallagher added one goal, while Sam Montembeault stopped 22 shots.
Hughes delivered an outstanding performance reminiscent of his pre-injury form from last season, achieving three points that equaled his highest for this season.
An important moment unfolded when Markstrom's saves stopped Montreal from equalizing, after which Hughes scored with an assist from Bratt.
Bratt continued his impressive form with points in eight consecutive home games, matching the franchise's fourth-longest streak.
