Vancouver Canucks News & Updates

Nico Hischier netted a goal and provided two assists as Jacob Markstrom stopped 20 shots to secure his 21st career shutout, leading the New Jersey Devils to a 6-0 victory over the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday night. Dawson Mercer and Jack Hughes each added a goal and an assist to the Devils' triumph.

The scoring for the Devils was further bolstered by contributions from Timo Meier, Ondrej Palat, and Tomas Tatar. On the other side, Arturs Silovs wrapped up the game with 17 saves for Vancouver, ending their five-game point streak.

Vancouver's defense faced difficulties, allowing four goals from New Jersey during transitions. Hischier, currently leading the league with 10 goals, has managed to find the net in four straight games.

A pivotal moment unfolded early in the second period when a turnover during Vancouver's power play led to a 2-on-1 opportunity and a goal for Mercer. Vancouver's power play struggled, failing to score on four chances and conceding a short-handed goal.

Up next, the Devils are set to play in Calgary on Friday, whereas the Canucks will head to San Jose for a game on Saturday.
