Carolina Hurricanes News & Updates

Don Waddell has relinquished his duties as the general manager and president of the Carolina Hurricanes, concluding a decade-long affiliation with the team that includes six years as its general manager.

In reflecting on his experience, Waddell shared his appreciation for the opportunity to lead the team and praised the milestones reached during his leadership.

Following the vacancy of the general manager position in Columbus, Waddell was considered for the presidency of Columbus, indicating his ongoing prominence in the field. Eric Tulsky, who was serving as the assistant general manager for the Hurricanes, has been appointed as the interim general manager as the organization embarks on a search for Waddell's successor.

The Hurricanes have thrived under Waddell's guidance, particularly in scouting and nurturing talent within their ranks. This approach propelled the team to break a nine-year absence from the playoffs and secure six successive berths in the postseason. This streak included two advancements to the Eastern Conference finals. Despite finishing the season with the Metropolitan Division's second-highest record, their campaign was halted in the second round by the New York Rangers.
