In Dallas, Matt Duchene led the Stars to victory over the Blackhawks by scoring a power play goal in the third period and adding an empty-net goal in the final moments. The Stars had initially taken the lead with goals from Evgenii Dadonov and Jamie Benn.
Although Chicago attempted to stage a comeback with efforts from Ryan Donato and Connor Bedard, Duchene's decisive goal secured the win. Jake Oettinger contributed to the success with his outstanding performance in goal, helping the Stars achieve their fifth straight home win this season, a feat they last accomplished during their Stanley Cup-winning season in 1998-99.
Despite his fatigue from playing consecutive games, Chicago's goaltender Petr Mrazek took to the ice. The Stars, meanwhile, were managing a challenging schedule, having played their ninth game in 17 days as they prepared for their Global Series trip to Europe.
Dallas's penalty kill unit excelled, successfully stopping all three of Chicago's power play attempts. Even though Esa Lindell and Miro Heiskanen gave the Blackhawks some chances with penalties, the Stars' impressive penalty kill rate of 92.3% remained unyielding.
The Stars are set to travel to Finland for a pair of games against the Panthers, while the Blackhawks are scheduled to play against the Avalanche on Monday.
