Power-play goals from Leo Carlsson and Troy Terry, combined with Lukas Dostal's 41-save effort, propelled the Anaheim Ducks to a 3-1 victory over the New York Islanders on Tuesday night.
Mason McTavish contributed two assists, while Frank Vatrano chipped in with an empty-net goal and an assist. Mathew Barzal scored for the Islanders, who have lost three out of their last four games.
Carlsson initiated the scoring in the opening period, with McTavish assisting Terry's goal in the second period.
Although Barzal reduced the Islanders' lag in the third period, Vatrano's empty-netter ensured the Ducks' triumph.
The Ducks secured their first win of a four-game road trip and are set to return home for a six-game stretch following Thursday's game in Pittsburgh.
Islanders forward Pierre Engvall continued to face challenges, recording two penalties on Tuesday. After being sent to the AHL as a wake-up call, he was brought back due to team injuries.
A pivotal moment came when Dostal made an impressive save against Anders Lee's shot late in the second period, maintaining the Ducks' two-goal lead.
The Islanders' penalty kill unit leaked two goals and is currently ranked as the 30th in the league.
Looking ahead, the Ducks are set to play the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday night, whereas the Islanders are scheduled to compete against the Blue Jackets in Columbus on Wednesday night.
