Edmonton Oilers News & Updates

Evander Kane, a forward for the Edmonton Oilers, will have surgery and is set to miss the beginning of the regular season, according to an announcement by general manager Stan Bowman.

While Bowman did not reveal the specific details of the surgery, he did mention that Kane will be sidelined for a significant duration.

Last season, Kane amassed 44 points during the regular season and added eight points in the playoffs. He was unable to participate in the last five games of the Stanley Cup Final due to a sports hernia.

Bowman noted that the decision to proceed with surgery was reached after evaluating various treatment options.

Kane has had a career spanning several teams, including Atlanta/Winnipeg, Buffalo, San Jose, and Edmonton. He was originally drafted by Atlanta as the fourth overall pick in the 2009 NHL draft.
