Connor McDavid and Evander Kane both found the back of the net twice, propelling the Edmonton Oilers to a resounding 6-2 win against the Colorado Avalanche. Corey Perry and Mattias Ekholm played pivotal roles as well, bolstering the Oilers' impressive record of 9 wins, 0 losses, and 1 draw in their recent 10 home matches.
The game saw Edmonton grabbing an initial lead, only for Colorado to momentarily edge ahead through goals by Jonathan Drouin and Ross Colton. However, McDavid drew the game level towards the end of the first period, setting the stage for the Oilers to reclaim dominance with additional goals from Ekholm, Ryan McLeod, and McDavid's doubling his tally later in the night.
In the third period, Kane's second goal firmly established Edmonton's victory. The Oilers' goalie, Stuart Skinner, contributed to the win with 21 saves, contrasting with Alexandar Georgiev’s 41 saves for the Avalanche, a team which has experienced losses in four out of their six most recent games.
Despite the return of Valeri Nichushkin and Yakov Trenin to the Avalanche's playing squad, their team faced a setback when Mikko Rantanen had to exit the game after receiving a heavy hit in the second period.
Looking ahead, the Avalanche are scheduled to play at home against Dallas on Sunday, and the Oilers will be making a trip to Calgary on Saturday.
