To bolster their chances of reclaiming the Stanley Cup, the Edmonton Oilers have brought on forward Viktor Arvidsson. Arvidsson has inked a two-year deal, earning $4 million annually.
This move aims to fill the scoring gaps left by the Oilers after their Game 7 loss to the Panthers in the Stanley Cup Final. The team also saw several forwards depart in free agency, such as Adam Henrique, Warren Foegele, and Mattias Janmark.
Arvidsson, who is 31, tallied six goals and 15 points over 18 games with the Kings last season. He boasts five seasons with over 20 goals, including two with 30 goals while playing for the Predators, adding key secondary scoring behind Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl.
The Kings sent Arvidsson to the Oilers in exchange for a top-six winger. Despite his efforts, the Kings couldn't progress beyond the first round during his time there, falling to the Oilers each of the three years.
The Oilers have around $6.93 million in cap space remaining, enabling them to add Arvidsson and other talents after buying out goaltender Jack Campbell.
