Columbus Blue Jackets News & Updates

Sean Monahan will profoundly miss Johnny Gaudreau, but he treasures the memories they shared. Gaudreau's locker stall now stands as a symbol of his enduring presence.

Monahan joined the Columbus team to reconnect with Gaudreau, his close friend and former teammate, who unfortunately passed away in an accident.

As a pallbearer at Gaudreau's funeral, Monahan deeply felt the pain of losing his treasured friend.

The Blue Jackets plan to honor Gaudreau by featuring a helmet sticker, a jersey patch, and maintaining a locker stall with his jersey displayed.

Monahan is now responsible for mentoring young centers Adam Fantilli and Cole Sillinger, while also dealing with the emotional strains of joining the team after his friend's death.

The Blue Jackets stress unity and preserving Gaudreau's legacy, often asking themselves, "What would Johnny want us to do?"

Under new coach Dean Evason, the team is focusing on building a new culture, revamping the locker room atmosphere, and speeding up their rebuilding process.

Despite the sorrowful event, Monahan is determined to contribute positively to the team, striving to honor Gaudreau's memory with his efforts.
