Washington Capitals News & Updates

Washington Capitals' Ethan Bear is participating in the NHL/NHLPA player assistance initiative.

He will be taking an indefinite break from team activities to focus on his health. This season, Bear becomes one of several players, including Patrik Laine, Samuel Girard, Valeri Nichushkin, and Evgeny Kuznetsov, to seek support through the program.

At 26 years old, Bear has played in 24 matches for Washington this season after inking a two-year deal in December. Despite being in good health, he has not played in the last seven games, during which the Capitals have been vying for a playoff spot.

In light of Bear's departure, the Capitals have brought up Vincent Iorio and Matthew Phillips from their roster. Their next game is against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday.
