Calgary Flames News & Updates

In Calgary, Rasmus Andersson and Kevin Bahl scored power-play goals to lead the Flames to a 3-0 win against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday night.

Dan Vladar recorded a shutout by making 16 saves, Yegor Sharangovich added a goal into an empty net, and Mikael Backlund provided two assists. Meanwhile, Elvis Merzlikins made 19 saves out of 21 shots for Columbus.

Prior to the game, the Flames paid tribute to Johnny Gaudreau, who had eight seasons with Calgary and two with Columbus. His family was in attendance, and team members from both sides wore jerseys bearing his name and number during warm-ups.

The Blue Jackets faced challenges in creating scoring opportunities, managing only 16 shots and taking four penalties. The Flames maintained control in the offensive zone and displayed greater discipline, limiting themselves to one penalty.

Andersson, who shared a close bond with Gaudreau, dedicated his goal to Gaudreau’s family, who watched from a box in the Saddledome.

With this victory, the Flames extended their home winning streak to six games, a feat they haven't achieved since the 2021-22 season.

The Blue Jackets will travel to Edmonton for their next match against the Oilers, while the Flames will face the St. Louis Blues at home on Thursday.
