Jonathan Huberdeau played a key role with two goals and two assists as the Calgary Flames triumphed over the Philadelphia Flyers with a score of 6-3 in their home-opener on Saturday night.
Nazem Kadri also contributed two goals, including one into an empty net, with Mackenzie Weegar and Mikael Backlund adding to the scoreboard. Dustin Wolf made an impressive 37 saves in his first game of the season.
Travis Konecny responded with two goals for the Philadelphia team, and Joel Farabee also scored. Ivan Fedotov recorded 27 saves in his initial start of the season.
During the second period, the Flames took advantage of a 5-on-3 opportunity, leading to a power-play goal by Kadri that increased their lead to two goals. In the third period, Wolf's decisive save on Konecny prevented what could have been a tying goal for Philadelphia.
Philadelphia's power play, which had difficulties last season, managed to score 1 for 4 on Saturday. Calgary, on the other hand, succeeded in 2 of their 5 power-play attempts, achieving a total of 4 out of 9 over two games.
The Flames will next compete against the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday, while the Flyers head to Edmonton on Tuesday.
