Aleksander Barkov, the captain of the Florida Panthers, is making headway in his recovery from a lower-body injury. He recently took to the ice for the first time since October 10th and is aiming for a return during the upcoming road trip. If his recovery continues smoothly, there is a possibility he could play as soon as October 24th against the New York Rangers.
While Panthers coach Paul Maurice advises caution, Barkov is listening to his body and plans to return when he feels fully prepared. He is anticipated to miss the matches against the Vancouver Canucks, Vegas Golden Knights, and Minnesota Wild.
The injury occurred during an October 10th game against the Ottawa Senators when Barkov attempted to stop an empty-net goal. His teammates have expressed their excitement at the possibility of his return.
In more good news for the Panthers, forward Matthew Tkachuk is also on the mend. He is recovering well from an unspecified illness and aims to be back in action on October 25th against the Minnesota Wild.
Barkov, who holds the Selke Trophy and is an essential player for the Stanley Cup champions, is making strides towards potentially joining the team for their games in Finland on November 1st and 2nd.
