Aleksander Barkov, the captain of the Florida Panthers, is anticipated to be out for approximately two to three weeks because of a lower-body injury.

The injury occurred while Barkov was attempting to stop an empty-net goal during a game against the Ottawa Senators.

Coach Paul Maurice is hopeful that Barkov might be ready to play in Finland when the Panthers compete against the Dallas Stars in the NHL Global Series.

Barkov has won the Selke Trophy twice and holds several franchise records for the Panthers.
