Florida Panthers News & Updates

Dmitry Kulikov, a defenseman for the Florida Panthers, has received a two-game suspension due to a prohibited head check on Conor Sheary of the Tampa Bay Lightning in a game that took place on Saturday.

The controversial incident happened right before a goal by Josh Mahura, which was not immediately penalized on the rink. After a review, officials revised their decision to a match penalty for elbowing against Kulikov and subsequently invalidated the goal.

At 33 years old, Kulikov is enjoying his second period of play with the Panthers and has accumulated 16 points over the season. The Florida team has maintained a leading position in the Atlantic Division for the bulk of the season.

Paul Maurice, the coach for the Panthers, expressed his astonishment regarding the penalty enforcement, humorously commenting on the unpredictability of the NHL by stating they manage to "always surprise you with something."
