Aleksander Barkov netted the crucial goal, while Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 16 shots, propelling the Florida Panthers to a 3-2 win against Boston, bringing them to a 3-1 advantage in their Eastern Conference semifinal matchup.
Contributions also came from Sam Bennett and Anton Lundell for the Panthers, who overcame a two-goal shortfall. With a win in Game 5 at their home ground on Tuesday evening, Florida has the chance to move on to the Eastern Conference finals.
Even without their captain Brad Marchand, Boston quickly took a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from David Pastrnak and Brandon Carlo. Jeremy Swayman kept out 39 shots for the Bruins.
In the third period, Bennett scored a controversial goal by pushing Boston's Charlie Coyle into Swayman and then sliding the puck into the goal. Despite Boston's appeal for goaltender interference, the NHL confirmed the goal's validity.
Having lost to Florida in three of their final four regular-season games, Boston is now faced with the challenge of winning three consecutive games to stay in the playoff contention. Pastrnak managed to end a 44-game drought by scoring on the power play, but the Bruins have yet to capitalize on the man-advantage, failing to score in their initial 11 attempts in the series against Florida.
