Florida Panthers Win NHL Championship, Emerge as Top Favorites for Next Season

The Florida Panthers waited thirty years to secure their first Stanley Cup win. Now, expectations are high for them to defend their title in the upcoming season.

Across various sportsbooks nationwide, the Panthers have been listed as the leading favorites for the 2024-25 NHL championship, with odds set at +900.

The Edmonton Oilers, who lost to the Panthers in the recent Stanley Cup Finals, are also strong contenders, boasting 10-1 odds.

If these odds remain consistent until the start of the season, Florida would join the ranks of the 2006-07 Ottawa Senators, 2023-24 Colorado Avalanche, and the Carolina Hurricanes for holding the longest preseason favorite odds since 1984.

The NHL's competitive nature is evident in the parity among teams. The Dallas Stars share the same +900 odds as the Panthers, while the Hurricanes have 10-1 odds and the Avalanche sit at 12-1.

The San Jose Sharks, holding the first pick in the upcoming NHL draft, are considered the least likely to win the Cup next year, with 400-1 odds.
