New Jersey Devils News & Updates

In the New Jersey Devils' home opener, coach Sheldon Keefe faced off against his former team, the Toronto Maple Leafs. The game concluded with a 4-2 loss for the Devils.

Keefe humorously remarked about adjusting to the new team colors and mentioned his focus on improving the team's performance, which had been commendable in previous matches.

The Devils had secured victories in both of their season-opening games held in Prague, defeating the Buffalo Sabres with an aggregate score of 7-2. Keefe highlighted his emphasis on competing against a high-caliber team.

After being dismissed by Toronto in May, Keefe was brought on by New Jersey a few weeks later. During his tenure with Toronto, he achieved a strong regular-season record but only succeeded in moving past the first round of the playoffs once.

Keefe's initial coaching role in the NHL was with Toronto, where he took over from Mike Babcock in 2019. Before that, he spent five seasons coaching the Toronto Marlies, the AHL affiliate of the Maple Leafs.
