Filip Forsberg led the Nashville Predators to a triumph over the St. Louis Blues with his impressive performance of scoring twice and adding an assist, complemented by Juuse Saros' outstanding performance in the net with 44 saves, breaking their three-game losing streak with a 6-3 win.
The victory was further secured with contributions from Roman Josi, Anthony Beauvillier, Michael McCarron, and Mark Jankowski. Gustav Nyquist also played a significant role by adding three assists to the game.
The Predators' coach, Andrew Brunette, admitted that despite the team not playing their best, the exceptional performance from their goalkeeper and the special teams played a crucial role in securing the victory.
The Blues saw goals from Brandon Saad, Jake Neighbours, and Jordan Kyrou, with Jordan Binnington stopping 25 shots. Despite this, the Blues maintained their position just behind Nashville in the Western Conference wild-card race.
Forsberg stressed the significance of their win against the Blues, recognizing the strength of their opponents.
The scoring opened with Josi just 31 seconds into the match, quickly answered by Saad. Nashville then edged ahead with goals from Forsberg and Beauvillier, leading into the final period with a two-goal advantage.
While McCarron and Neighbours attempted to close the gap, Forsberg's empty-net goal, marking his 43rd of the season and tying the franchise record set by Matt Duchene, along with Jankowski's goal, cemented Nashville's victory.
Looking ahead, the Blues are set to compete against San Jose on Saturday, while the Predators are slated to play against the New York Islanders next.
