Ivan Barbashev scored with a breakaway goal in the second period for Las Vegas, breaking the tie. Adin Hill successfully stopped 28 shots to earn a shutout for the Vegas Golden Knights, bringing an end to Edmonton's three-game winning streak with a 1-0 win on Tuesday.
A misstep by Leon Draisaitl resulted in Barbashev's scoring chance. He tried passing to Jack Eichel, but the puck deflected off Evan Bouchard and back to Barbashev, leading to the only goal of the match.
This game marked Hill's second shutout of the season and the ninth of his career. The Golden Knights have achieved a record of 5-1-1 in their last seven games, with Hill on a winning streak of six consecutive starts.
Stuart Skinner made 15 saves for Edmonton, which faced its fourth shutout of the season.
Despite Edmonton generating seven high-danger chances and nine shots on target during the second period, Vegas managed to hold firm in the third. Though the Golden Knights were outshot 16-2, their defense restricted Edmonton to three high-danger opportunities.
In a crucial situation, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins had an opportunity to equalize during a 6-on-5 play, but Hill blocked his shot with 1:25 left on the clock.
The opening period featured just eight shots on goal in total, which was the second-lowest tally for any period this season.
The Oilers are set to play against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday, while the Golden Knights are scheduled to visit the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday.
