Vegas Golden Knights News & Updates

In their season opener, Ivan Barbashev, Mark Stone, and Victor Olofsson each found the back of the net twice, leading the Vegas Golden Knights to a commanding 8-4 win against the Colorado Avalanche.

In addition to scoring, Barbashev contributed two assists. His linemate Jack Eichel racked up four assists, and Shea Theodore added three more. Adin Hill, the Vegas goaltender, made 28 saves.

For Colorado, Mikko Rantanen secured a hat trick, while Casey Mittelstadt also chipped in with a goal. Alexandar Georgiev, who started in goal, allowed five goals from 11 shots, and Justus Annunen came on to save two of four shots.

Although Georgiev is the top goalie for Colorado, he experienced difficulties, marking the 34th occasion in his career that he conceded five or more goals. Vegas's coach, Bruce Cassidy, highlighted the value of forward chemistry, seeing success with the top line of Stone, Barbashev, and Eichel, who together tallied 10 points.

Vegas managed to draw level in the game when Olofsson scored on Georgiev after initially trailing. Rantanen's three-goal effort represented the eighth hat trick of his career and the second one achieved in a single calendar year.

Looking ahead, the Avalanche will host Columbus on Saturday, and the Golden Knights are set to welcome St. Louis on Friday.
