Barclay Goodrow delivered the winning goal during overtime, leading the New York Rangers to defeat the Florida Panthers with a score of 2-1 in the second game of the Eastern Conference final.
The crucial goal by Goodrow was netted at the 14:01 mark of overtime, eliciting cheers from the fans at Madison Square Garden. This marked his fourth goal in the postseason, out of which two were game-winning goals, over a span of 12 games.
Early in the game, Vincent Trocheck put the Rangers in the lead, and goalie Igor Shesterkin contributed with 26 saves, including six crucial ones during overtime.
On the other side, the Panthers managed to score thanks to Carter Verhaeghe during a power play, and Sergei Bobrovsky showcased a strong performance by making 29 saves.
With the completion of this game, the series is moving to Florida for the third and fourth games.
A notable moment earlier in overtime featured Filip Chytil of the Rangers taking a rebound shot that unfortunately went wide.
The Rangers welcomed back Matt Rempe into their lineup, who made a notable impact with his physical play and winning a faceoff.
The opening goal of the match was credited to Trocheck, following a sequence initiated by a collision between Alexis Lafreniere and Carter Verhaeghe, which allowed Trocheck to easily score.
Following Trocheck's goal, a confrontation ensued, leading to a powerplay opportunity for the Rangers, which they were unable to capitalize on.
Florida managed to even the score towards the end of the first period with a goal from Verhaeghe during their power play time.
The second period saw both teams hitting the goalposts, with Wennberg attempting for the Rangers and Aleksander Barkov for the Panthers.
