Meredith Gaudreau honored her late husband, Johnny Gaudreau, through her social media posts on Saturday. She conveyed her love and appreciation for him as both a father and a husband. Meredith posted family photos capturing Johnny's birthday celebration earlier in August, featuring herself and their children, Noa and Johnny. In her Instagram message, she expressed gratitude for the cherished years she spent with him, stating she felt fortunate to have been his. Johnny and his brother, Matthew, tragically lost their lives in a car accident on Thursday night in New Jersey. The Gaudreau family had come together for their sister's wedding, which was subsequently canceled in the wake of the tragedy. Meredith lauded Johnny's exceptional qualities as a father, describing him as loving and caring. She highlighted his unwavering involvement in their children's lives, emphasizing that he never missed appointments and excelled at soothing their baby to sleep. Matthew Gaudreau, who was a hockey coach and expecting his first child in December, also passed away in the crash. A GoFundMe campaign for his wife and unborn child has garnered over $300,000 in donations. The sports community expressed their condolences for the Gaudreau family, with tributes from notable figures like Wayne Gretzky and Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts. The accident occurred while the Gaudreau brothers were cycling and were struck by a Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Sean Higgins. Higgins, who allegedly had been drinking prior to the incident, faces two counts of vehicular homicide and is currently being held without bond. All logos are the trademark & property of their owners and not NHL-Schedules.com.
