In the history of the NHL, NBA, or MLB, no team has ever been defeated in a best-of-seven series after having a 3-1 lead in back-to-back postseasons. Currently, the Boston Bruins are at risk of being the first to do so.
This Saturday, the Bruins are set to face off against the Toronto Maple Leafs in Game 7. Boston has previously defeated Toronto in their last two playoff encounters, one of which was in 2013. The Maple Leafs, on the other hand, have not performed well in recent playoff seasons.
The pressure is mounting on Boston after two consecutive losses to Toronto, even without the presence of their star player Auston Mathews. Bruins goalie Jeremy Swayman has stressed the importance of bringing a high level of intensity to every match, with a special focus on Game 7.
The Bruins have had difficulty finding their rhythm at the beginning of the last two matches and are looking for an increase in contribution from David Pastrnak. They also recognize the need for a stronger performance from the start of the game.
The victorious team of this series will go on to compete against the Florida Panthers, who have had some rest since their win against the Tampa Bay Lightning last Tuesday.
