In Las Vegas, Brett Howden's impressive maneuver and subsequent goal at 2:15 of overtime secured a 4-3 win for the Vegas Golden Knights against the Utah Hockey Club, maintaining their perfect home record.
Noah Hanifin assisted the team with a goal and two assists, and Howden added an assist to his performance. Pavel Dorofeyev and William Karlsson contributed the other goals for the Knights, while Adin Hill recorded 16 saves.
Logan Cooley led Utah by scoring a goal and providing an assist, with additional goals from Ian Cole and Alexander Kerfoot. Nick Bjugstad aided the team with two assists, while Connor Ingram made 31 saves.
Utah took their first shot on goal with only 8:08 remaining in the first period. Meanwhile, the Golden Knights overcame a 2-0 deficit in the second period by netting three consecutive goals.
The Golden Knights extended their best home start in franchise history to eight wins with zero losses, outscoring their opponents 43-19.
Despite their solid home performance, the Golden Knights have faced challenges on the road, standing at 0-3-1 away from Las Vegas. They are scheduled to play nine of their next 11 games away from home.
Utah seemed ready to take a 2-1 lead into the second intermission. However, with only seconds left, Hanifin took advantage of a loose puck to tie the game.
Vegas center Tomas Hertl achieved a career milestone by surpassing 500 career points with his primary assist on Dorofeyev's goal in the second period. He became the second player from the 2012 draft class to achieve this, joining Filip Forsberg.
