Carolina Hurricanes News & Updates

The Carolina Hurricanes are dealing with no significant health issues regarding Tony DeAngelo on their defense line. Brett Pesce, who has been out due to an injury to his lower body, is anticipated to make a comeback in the upcoming second-round matchup with the New York Rangers.

Don Waddell, the team's president and general manager, shared that Pesce is no longer using a walking boot and is making strides towards participating in the series. He was injured during the second game of their first-round victory over the New York Islanders.

In Pesce's absence, DeAngelo stepped in to pair with Brady Skjei and was forced to leave Game 5 following a slash that went uncalled. Despite this, subsequent X-rays showed there was no serious injury, and Waddell has given him the green light to continue playing.

The acquisition of Orlov has paid off significantly, particularly amidst the team's injuries. His goal in Game 3 against the Islanders and his substantial contribution in terms of ice time highlight his importance.

Waddell now views Orlov's role on the team as indispensable, which is a shift from considering his acquisition as just a valuable addition, given the circumstances the team is currently facing.
