Carolina Hurricanes News & Updates

Sebastian Aho netted a crucial power-play goal a little more than a minute before the end, helping the Carolina Hurricanes come back from being two goals down to beat the Washington Capitals with a score of 4-2 on Friday night in Raleigh.

Jake Guentzel scored twice for the Hurricanes, one of which was into an empty net, and Martin Necas also found the back of the net. Jaccob Slavin assisted on two goals, while Pyotr Kochetkov saved 14 shots.

For the Capitals, Alex Ovechkin was the sole scorer, netting both of their goals, while Darcy Kuemper made 41 saves. This loss marks the fifth consecutive defeat for the Capitals, who have not secured a win in regular time in their last ten matches.

Ovechkin has accumulated a total of 50 goals in his career against the Hurricanes. On the other side, since Guentzel's arrival to Carolina, he has scored five goals in 13 appearances.

The Hurricanes were without Andrei Svechnikov, who was sidelined due to sickness.

Both teams are scheduled to play at home on Sunday, with the Capitals facing Ottawa and the Hurricanes playing against Columbus.
