New York Islanders News & Updates

The New York Islanders have finalized a four-year, $14 million contract with forward Anthony Duclair during the NHL free agency period.

Typically, the Islanders refrain from pursuing high-profile free agents, but general manager Lou Lamoriello made an exception for Duclair because of his potential to boost the team's scoring capabilities.

Duclair, now 28, is joining his ninth team after last season where he played for both the San Jose Sharks and Tampa Bay Lightning, recording 24 goals and 42 points.

Despite frequently changing teams, Duclair has consistently shown his offensive strengths, which are particularly valuable for teams in contention.

Initially facing difficulties with the Sharks, Duclair was later traded to the Lightning, where he rediscovered his form, ultimately earning him a long-term deal with the Islanders.

The Islanders have struggled with offensive depth, particularly in the playoffs. As a versatile middle-six forward, Duclair is expected to significantly enhance the team's attacking options across the board.
