Ivan Fedotov, a goaltender selected by the Flyers in 2015, has finally linked up with the team following a stint in Russian military service.
After CSKA Moscow ended his contract with them, Fedotov was free to start his NHL career with the Flyers this season.
On Friday, Danny Briere, the General Manager of the Flyers, is set to have a meeting with Fedotov to talk about his role and prospects within the organization.
Even though his contract was terminated, CSKA Moscow still holds his rights in the KHL and has expressed their good wishes for him.
Fedotov was initially picked by the Flyers in the final round of the draft. He inked a deal in 2022 aiming to transition to the Flyers but was instead enlisted for military service.
After serving, he returned to the ice with CSKA, participating in 49 matches the previous season.
The International Ice Hockey Federation sided with the Flyers regarding his contractual situation, imposing sanctions on both Fedotov and CSKA, given the existing NHL agreement.
At the 2022 Beijing Olympics, Fedotov was the foremost goalie representing Russia.
