Boston Bruins News & Updates

Jake DeBrusk has agreed to a seven-year free agent contract with the Vancouver Canucks, concluding his seven-year period with the Boston Bruins.

At 27 years old, DeBrusk has accumulated 266 points in 465 NHL games, all of which were played for the Bruins. Although selected in the first round in 2015, his position within the team had been uncertain, with recurring trade speculations each year.

In the latest season, DeBrusk notched 19 goals and 21 assists, completing a two-year contract that had a $4 million salary cap impact. The Canucks aimed to enhance their left wing by signing DeBrusk, who has an average annual value of $5.5 million against the salary cap.

The Canucks had shown interest in acquiring Jake Guentzel but were unable to secure him from the Tampa Bay Lightning.
