Jake Guentzel and the Tampa Bay Lightning have agreed on a new contract.
The seven-year contract is anticipated to be announced on Monday.
On Sunday, the Lightning secured Guentzel from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for a third-round draft pick.
At 29, Guentzel has consistently scored 30 goals each season for the past four years and was a key player in the Penguins' 2017 Stanley Cup victory.
The Lightning made room under the salary cap on Saturday by trading Mikhail Sergachev and Tanner Jeannot.
There was much speculation that these moves were intended to re-sign their captain, Steven Stamkos, but BriseBois mentioned that both sides expected he would explore free agency.
Guentzel has the potential to fill Stamkos' former left wing position alongside center Brayden Point and right wing Nikita Kucherov.
With Guentzel now part of the Tampa lineup, Stamkos may become one of the most sought-after forwards in free agency.
The agreement was first reported by Daily Faceoff.
