After being acquired by the Edmonton Oilers, Jeff Skinner inked a one-year contract. He comes to Edmonton after the Buffalo Sabres bought out the remaining three years of his $9 million per year contract. With the Oilers, Skinner is set to earn $3 million for his term. The Oilers faced a significant challenge in finding forwards who could contribute without breaking the bank as they entered free agency. To create salary cap space, they had bought out goaltender Jack Campbell for the final three years of his contract. The team re-signed two unrestricted free agent forwards, Connor Brown and Corey Perry, to one-year contracts valued at a combined $2.15 million. Additionally, they brought in Viktor Arvidsson from the Kings on a two-year deal worth $4 million annually and defenseman Josh Brown on a three-year contract with an annual value of $1 million. Subsequently, the Oilers reportedly secured a new agreement with Mattias Janmark, re-signing the forward on a three-year deal valued at $1.45 million annually. By bringing in Skinner, the Oilers gain a player with six 20-goal seasons under his belt, including three seasons with more than 30 goals during his tenure with the Carolina Hurricanes. Despite his record, the Sabres opted to buy out Skinner's contract, as he had only netted 24 goals and 46 points over 79 games in the previous season. All logos are the trademark & property of their owners and not NHL-Schedules.com.
