The Los Angeles Kings have named Jim Hiller as their new head coach following a successful period as interim coach.
At 55, Hiller has a background of assistant coaching roles with teams including Detroit, Toronto, and New York, having joined the Kings in 2022.
During Hiller's leadership, the Kings showcased impressive form in the regular season, achieving a 21-12-1 record, although they were eliminated by Edmonton in the initial playoff round.
Since their Stanley Cup victories in 2012 and 2014, Los Angeles has found it challenging to make significant playoff progress, often exiting in the early rounds.
The team may face hurdles in seeking significant improvement due to the aging roster and a shortage of promising players from the minor leagues.
Another challenge for Hiller will be enhancing the game of Pierre-Luc Dubois, who did not meet expectations in his debut season with the Kings.
