John Hynes, the Minnesota Wild's head coach, has been selected to lead the 2024 U.S. men's national hockey team during the IIHF Men's World Championship in Czechia, which is set to take place from May 10 to 26.
Hynes has previously held the position of head coach for the national team in 2016 and 2019, bringing a wealth of experience from his time leading the Nashville Predators, New Jersey Devils, and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in the AHL.
Brett Peterson, the general manager of the 2024 U.S. men's national team, has lauded Hynes for his fervent passion, dynamism, and extensive experience. Hynes' background includes six seasons as the head coach for USA Hockey's National Team Development Program and a successful stint at Boston University, culminating in an NCAA Frozen Four championship victory in 1995.
