In Sunrise, Florida, the Colorado Avalanche achieved a 7-4 victory over the struggling Florida Panthers on Saturday night, with Jonathan Drouin scoring twice and Mikko Rantanen adding a goal along with three assists.
Drouin, back from a 16-game hiatus due to injury, initiated scoring for Colorado. Additionally, Valeri Nichushkin, Logan O'Connor, Samuel Girard, and Oliver Kylington each contributed to the scoring, allowing the Avalanche to extend their road trip success to 3-0.
Colorado benefited from Cale Makar and Devon Toews each providing two assists. Florida's goals came from Sam Reinhart, Aleksander Barkov, Carter Verhaeghe, and Anton Lundell. Matthew Tkachuk and Mackie Samoskevich also added two assists each for the Panthers, who recorded their fifth loss in the last six games.
Notably, Nathan MacKinnon played his 812th game for Colorado, bringing him within one game of Michel Goulet for the fourth-highest number of games in franchise history. Sam Reinhart extended a personal achievement for Florida by reaching a 13-game point streak, matching the second-longest in the team's history.
A critical juncture occurred during a 56-second five-on-three powerplay advantage for Florida. Despite a goal seeming to be scored, it was overturned because of goaltender interference, which resulted in a delay penalty for Florida.
Cale Makar reached an important career milestone by achieving his 100th multi-point game.
Looking ahead, the Avalanche are set to play against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday, while the Panthers will face the Washington Capitals on the same day.
