San Jose Sharks News & Updates

In San Jose, California, Seth Jones became the hero in overtime, leading the Chicago Blackhawks to a thrilling 5-4 win against the San Jose Sharks after erasing a four-goal deficit.

Jones spoke of the unity within the team, highlighting their collective effort and determination to win as a group, which he found to be a remarkable experience. This win marked the first time the Blackhawks managed a comeback victory from four or more goals down since 2009, and it was the first instance the Sharks ever squandered such a lead.

With just 47 seconds left in the game, Philipp Kurashev tied the score, contributing to the comeback alongside Tyler Johnson and Ryan Donato, who also scored. Rookie Connor Bedard added an assist, bringing his leading total to 55 points for the team.

Blackhawks coach Luke Richardson commended his team for their supportive and encouraging behavior towards one another, attributing their success to strong leadership and unity. Meanwhile, the Sharks saw Fabian Zetterlund and Thomas Bordeleau both scoring twice, despite which the team faced their seventh straight defeat.

Bordeleau expressed frustration over the team's inability to secure the win despite a strong effort, citing a lack of execution. Donato discussed the mentality of overcoming a 4-0 deficit, emphasizing the importance of persistence and a strong finish.

Goalkeeper Petr Mrazek made 26 saves for the Blackhawks, matching the debut home performance of the Sharks' goalie Devin Cooley, who also stopped 26 shots. The defeat leaves San Jose at the bottom of the NHL standings with 40 points, just below Chicago's 45.

The Blackhawks are gearing up to host Calgary on Tuesday, whereas the Sharks will welcome Dallas for their next game at home.
