Anze Kopitar led the Los Angeles Kings to a 3-2 win over the Vancouver Canucks with a goal and an assist, sealing their fourth straight victory.
Contributions to the Kings' win also came from Blake Lizotte and Kevin Fiala, with Cam Talbot stopping 21 shots. For the Canucks, goals were netted by Brock Boeser and Sam Lafferty, ending their streak of three wins.
This victory furthered the Kings' advantage over the Canucks by two points in the rankings of the Western Conference. Vancouver came close to leveling the score towards the end, but was unable to capitalize on a 6-on-4 opportunity following Drew Doughty's penalty.
A mistake in the Canucks' line change opened the door for Fiala's goal in the opening period. Although Lafferty managed an equalizer, Lizotte and Kopitar quickly regained the lead for the Kings with goals in the second period.
In a late-game effort, the Canucks removed their goalie in an attempt to tie the game but were unsuccessful. Notably, Elias Lindholm was absent for Vancouver, and Ian Cole made his return after a two-game absence.
LOOKING AHEAD: The Kings are gearing up for a game against Edmonton, their second in a four-game tour. Meanwhile, the Canucks will welcome Dallas as they continue their extensive nine-game homestand with the eighth match.
