In a competitive match-up, the Minnesota Wild emerged victorious with a 4-1 win against the Arizona Coyotes. Kirill Kaprizov was pivotal in securing the win, notching an empty-net goal in the final moments. Both Ryan Hartman and Marcus Foligno played key roles in adding to the Wild's scoreboard, while Marc-Andre Fleury contributed with 21 saves for the team.
Kaprizov was the first to mark the scoreboard with a goal from the left circle during the opening period. His prowess was again on display when he scored a second goal, this time into an empty net, with just 2:32 left in the game. This effort extended Kaprizov's scoring streak to five consecutive games, accumulating six goals and three assists in that timeframe.
The Coyotes briefly tied the game in the second period thanks to Nick Bjugstad, but Hartman's goal on a power play soon after reclaimed the lead for the Wild. In an attempt to equalize, the Coyotes removed their goalie twice towards the end, which resulted in empty-net goals for both Kaprizov and Foligno.
Demonstrating their support for inclusivity, the Wild celebrated Pride Night. Notably, Fleury and Jon Merrill participated by using Pride tape on their sticks during the warm-ups. Merrill was also honored as the Ally of the Year by the Twin Cities Pride.
Recently, the Coyotes have found challenges in securing wins, losing four out of their last five games, whereas the Wild have been on an upward trajectory, winning four of their last five matches. Looking ahead, Minnesota is set to play against Anaheim on Thursday, while Arizona will face off against Detroit the same night.
