Calgary Flames News & Updates

Pyotr Kochetkov's impressive 30 saves and an assist on Eric Robinson's empty-net goal helped the Carolina Hurricanes secure a 4-2 win over the Calgary Flames. Martin Necas played a significant role with a goal and an assist, while Jack Roslovic, Seth Jarvis, and Sebastian Aho also found the back of the net. Even though Jake Bean scored his first goal and Jonathan Huberdeau added another, Dan Vladar's 39 saves weren't enough to stop the Flames from suffering their first loss in regulation.

Early goals in the second period from Necas and Roslovic gave the Hurricanes a lead. Although Bean managed to score for Calgary, Huberdeau's third-period goal couldn't turn the tide. Jarvis was responsible for the game's first goal, tallying on the power play in the first period.

The Flames leaned heavily on Vladar, particularly during first-period penalty kills, whereas the Hurricanes excelled with effective puck movement and a strong presence in front of the net, successfully killing off two penalties in the third period.

Carolina's success in winning 70% of offensive zone faceoffs during the first 40 minutes was significant. Their early second-period goals came as a result of faceoff victories by Aho and Jesperi Kotkaniemi.

Looking ahead, the Flames are set to face Winnipeg at home on Saturday, while the Hurricanes will continue their six-game road trip in Seattle on the same day.
