Brandon Montour's exceptional performance, featuring a hat trick and an assist, propelled the Seattle Kraken to a decisive 8-2 win against the Montreal Canadiens. This victory put an end to Seattle's three-game losing streak.
Jaden Schwartz and Chandler Stephenson each played a significant role in the Kraken's success, contributing a goal and two assists apiece. Additionally, Oliver Bjorkstrand, Jamie Oleksiak, Ryker Evans, and Eeli Tolvanen added to the impressive scoreline.
Seattle's dominance was evident as they forced Montreal to replace goaltender Sam Montembeault after he allowed five goals on just 10 shots. Montreal's difficulties with their penalty kill and power play were apparent, as Seattle converted three out of six power plays into goals.
Montour's crucial goal in the second period secured a strong 5-1 lead, which was instrumental in countering Montreal's early momentum.
The Kraken established their commanding lead early in the match, with Oleksiak scoring just 25 seconds after the game started. Even though Montreal's Cole Caufield and Josh Anderson managed to score, their achievements were overshadowed by Seattle's dominant offensive display.
Seattle is set to face the Toronto Maple Leafs next, while Montreal will travel to play against the Washington Capitals.
