Kuznetsov Scores in First Game as Hurricanes Shut Out Panthers 4-0

In a convincing victory on Thursday night, Evgeny Kuznetsov netted his inaugural goal with the Carolina Hurricanes, and Frederik Anderson achieved his first shutout in more than a year, leading to a 4-0 triumph over the Florida Panthers.

Since his trade from Washington and in his fourth appearance for the Hurricanes, Kuznetsov played a crucial role in the goals by Seth Jarvis, Martin Necas, and Andrei Svechnikov. Additionally, Jaccob Slavin contributed with two assists, and Jake Guentzel marked his initial assist for the team.

Andersen successfully blocked 21 shots, securing his third victory in as many starts. This shutout, his first since March 5, 2022, marks the 25th of his career.

On the other side, Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 32 shots for the Panthers, who faced their second defeat in the last 10 games and were held scoreless for the fifth occasion this season.

Kuznetsov showcased his scoring ability, alongside his known playmaking skills, by scoring the decisive goal in the second period.

The Panthers were missing forwards Sam Bennett and Evan Rodriguez due to injuries, but Panthers coach Paul Maurice believed that their absence did not significantly impact the game's outcome.

Looking ahead, the Panthers are set to play Tampa Bay at home on Saturday, while the Hurricanes will embark on a three-game road trip starting in Toronto the same day.
