Pittsburgh Penguins News & Updates

Kyle Connor played a pivotal role in leading the Winnipeg Jets to a 4-1 win against the Pittsburgh Penguins, contributing both a goal and an assist. He has become the third player from the Jets to achieve at least 25 points in the opening 20 games of a season.

Gabriel Vilardi found success with a power-play goal, and Nino Niederreiter and Vladislav Namestnikov also added to the score for the Jets, who maintained a 3-0 lead after two periods.

The Winnipeg team equaled the second-best record for wins, achieving 17 victories in the first 20 games of a season for their franchise. They remain unbeaten when scoring first, holding a record of 10-0.

Connor Hellebuyck impressively blocked 17 shots, securing his league-leading 14th win within 16 games. On the other side, Michael Bunting netted a power-play goal for Pittsburgh, and Tristan Jarry managed 26 saves.

The Jets started the season with a strong 17-3 record, whereas the Penguins have struggled, losing five out of their last six games and 13 out of the last 17 overall.

Niederreiter's goal came in the initial 90 seconds of the game, and Vilardi extended the lead to 3-0 late in the second period. The combined Jets/Atlanta Thrashers franchise has only secured three road victories in Pittsburgh since 2007.

The Jets are scheduled to visit Nashville next, while the Penguins are set to host Utah.
