Arizona Coyotes News & Updates

Alexis Lafreniere led the charge with a hat trick and two assists, while Jonathan Quick became the winningest US-born goaltender in history with his 392nd career victory, as the New York Rangers clinched their 50th season win by defeating the Arizona Coyotes 8-5.

Quick saved 27 shots, moving ahead of Ryan Miller's record. Arteri Panarin contributed with a goal on an empty net and three assists, alongside Chris Kreider, Zac Jones, and Barclay Goodrow, who all scored during the third period for the Rangers.

Lafreniere sealed his hat trick with an empty-net goal, reaching 25 goals for the season. In response, the Coyotes saw goals from Matias Maccelli, Clayton Keller, Nick Bjugstad, Lawson Crouse, and Logan Cooley, though it wasn't enough to overcome the Rangers' offensive strength.

New York's coach, Peter Laviolette, offered high praise for Quick's milestone victory and lauded the team's adaptability and ability to find various paths to success, adding a nod to Lafreniere's steady performance.

The Rangers pushed their point tally to 104, continuing a five-game winning streak and boasting a 20-4-1 record since February. Their next game is at home against Pittsburgh on Monday night.

Conversely, Arizona suffered their sixth straight defeat to the Rangers, standing at 4-2 during their current seven-game home stretch. Despite putting five goals past a formidable opponent, Coyotes' coach Andre Tourigny voiced dissatisfaction with his team's defensive errors.

Adding to the Rangers’ roster strength, defenseman Jacob Trouba came back after missing 11 games due to injury. His return boosts the team as they gear up to face the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday night.
