New York Islanders News & Updates

Peter Laviolette, the coach for the New York Rangers, strongly criticized two instances of what he perceived to be overly aggressive play by players from the New York Islanders following a defeat with a score of 4-2.

During the game's third period, an incident involving Mika Zibanejad and Adam Pelech led Laviolette to describe the encounter as a targeted headshot with an elbow. While Laviolette suggested a deliberate act, Patrick Roy, the coach of the Islanders, argued it was merely an unfortunate accident.

An additional event saw Vincent Trocheck being pushed into the boards by Noah Dobson, an action that Laviolette labeled harshly. Despite this, Roy defended the move as being within the rules, pointing out that the puck was still in play at the time.

The Islanders emerged victorious from the match, extending their lead to 87 points over the Washington Capitals in the Metro Division.
