Edmonton Oilers News & Updates

Artturi Lehkonen emerged as the hero by scoring the decisive goal in overtime, leading the Colorado Avalanche to a 3-2 victory against the Edmonton Oilers, marking their sixth win in a row.

Nathan MacKinnon, contributing to the overtime goal, continued his scoring streak to 15 games. Sean Walker was the major scorer during the regulation time with two goals for the Avalanche, and Alexandar Georgiev defended the net successfully with 32 saves.

For the Oilers, Warren Foegele and Sam Carrick managed to find the back of the net, despite the team having been on a two-game winning streak. This game saw a pause in Connor McDavid's streak of scoring points at home games, which had extended to 26 before this match.

The game's first score came from Walker in the second period after Jonathan Drouin missed a penalty shot opportunity which could have put Colorado ahead earlier. The Oilers responded with goals from Foegele and Carrick in the third period to even the score.

The Avalanche brought the game back to a tie with only 5:20 left on the clock thanks to Walker's goal, assisted by Casey Mittelstadt. The game also marked a comeback for players Zach Parise, Lehkonen, and Drouin.

Looking ahead, the Avalanche are set to play their next game in St. Louis, while the Oilers will be looking to bounce back when they welcome Montreal.
