Leon Draisaitl Propels Oilers to Overtime Win Against Islanders as Connor McDavid Approaches 1,000 Career Points

In Edmonton, the Oilers secured a 4-3 victory over the Islanders thanks to an overtime goal by Leon Draisaitl, along with a goal and three assists from Connor McDavid.

McDavid, who has accumulated seven points over his last two games, assisted Draisaitl on the decisive overtime goal just 1:52 in. Evan Bouchard played a significant role as well, adding a goal and two assists for the Oilers.

On the Islanders' side, Anders Lee netted two goals and Kyle Palmieri scored once. Ilya Sorokin was busy in the goal, making 38 saves.

In team achievements, Kyle Palmieri has now overtaken both Brock Nelson and Bo Horvat in terms of goal and point totals for the Islanders.

For the Oilers, McDavid is approaching a major milestone, needing just one more point to become the 99th player in NHL history to reach 1,000 career points.

A pivotal moment occurred when Jean-Gabriel Pageau assisted on Anders Lee's equalizing goal late in the third period, setting the stage for overtime with just 2:41 remaining.
