Colorado Avalanche News & Updates

In Denver, Nikita Kucherov sparked a trio of goals for Tampa Bay in the first 5 1/2 minutes, leading the Lightning to a 5-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche.

Jake Guentzel and Conor Geekie joined in the early scoring against Colorado's goalie Kaapo Kahkonen, who made his season debut after being acquired from Winnipeg.

Anthony Cirelli secured the victory with an empty-net goal in the final moments, while Ivan Ivan and Cale Makar scored for the Avalanche.

Andrei Vasilevskiy made 33 saves, achieving his 299th career win. Both Makar and Nathan MacKinnon extended their point streaks to 11 games from the start of the season.

Tampa Bay maintained their impressive beginning to the season with a second series of three consecutive wins, while Colorado faced challenges due to injuries of Ross Colton and Miles Wood, further depleting their team.

Kucherov's slapshot slightly more than a minute into the game set the stage for Tampa Bay's strong early performance. Brayden Point assisted the goal, which came on Tampa Bay's first shot on target.

Tampa Bay managed to score three goals in their initial five shots, highlighting their offensive strength. They will play against Minnesota on Friday, while Colorado will head to Nashville on Saturday.
