Brayden Point achieved two goals, while Nikita Kucherov contributed with four assists, leading to a 4-1 triumph for the Tampa Bay Lightning over the San Jose Sharks, marking their fifth win in a row.
In the early stages of the third period, Point secured a power-play goal, breaking a 1-1 deadlock and continuing his impressive run of scoring 14 goals in 15 games. Meanwhile, Kucherov, the current league leader in points, pushed his assist run to 12 games, setting a new record for the Lightning.
After coming over from the Sharks at the trade deadline, Anthony Duclair found the back of the net, pushing the score to 3-1. Shortly afterward, Point achieved his season's 40th goal, courtesy of an exquisite assist from Kucherov.
On the other side, the Sharks are on a six-game losing streak, with only a single victory in their last 16 outings. Even though they scored first, their recent track record fell to 9-1-1 against Tampa Bay in the last 10 matchups.
An unusual puck deflection early in the match handed the Lightning an initial advantage. The Sharks managed to level the score but couldn't hold off Tampa Bay as goals from Duclair and Point ultimately secured the win for the Lightning.
